The Shabelle River has started to overflow in the Baladweyne area in the last 24 hours as it has brought a lot of water from the Somali region of Ethiopia.

The areas where the river has breached are, Hoodlee area, Beret reer Mudalle, Kaliga dhaxjabis and Hiliada Bilis-diid which are all Baladweyne and other subordinate areas.

Baladweyne has reached the floodwaters that the people of Baladweyne have been warned about and that is the reason why the river broke in the last 24 hours.

Some of the people involved in the efforts to deal with the floods told the media that last night a lot of water was brought by the river Shabelle, which was the last place where the water was released last night.
Also, one of the flood control committee of Hiraan Region has called on the people of Baladweyne to show more caution as the water has entered some parts of Baladweyne.
